Nestling in a timeless valley is the Vingerklip Lodge on the 3000 ha Farm “Bertram” that is surrounded by a game fence helping us to protect and preserve the animals. Our 1600 ha private reserve has 2 waterholes in various locations around the lodge with the main water-hole being flood lit at night. Various types of animals including Giraffe, Eland, Zebra, Kudus, Oryx, Springbok, Impala, Warthogs, Baboons and Steenbok frequently visit the waterholes and are also often spotted when following the walking trails. The emphasis of our lodge though is to take a day or two off just driving around and just to soak up the African sun in the middle of the Namibian bush.
Each room has got a private balcony with endless views of the African savanna, with no man-made structure in sight. The lodge has got two restaurants. The main restaurant is at the main section of the lodge, where a buffet breakfast and dinner is served. The Eagles Nest is a smaller restaurant on top of the plateau, which is reachable by a 30m high metal staircase (there is a N$100 surcharge per guest and reservation is recommended). The views from the top are unbeatable. After the sundowner at the sundowner deck on plateau, we serve a traditional Namibian braai at the restaurant.
We also have two pools, one on the east side and the second on the west side of the property. There are numerous walking trails as well as activities offered by third party operators.
Each bungalow has got a family unit on the left-hand side and a double room on the right-hand side. The rooms are not interleading or connected in any way. The family unit has got an additional double bed on a mezzanine level. The price is the same, but the additional occupant will be charged for. The Heavens Gate is our luxury unit, which is on the same plateau as the Eagles Nest restaurant. All of our bedrooms have got their own aircon system.
We strive the be as environmental conscious as possible. We are completely off the grid. Recently we invested heavily into expanding our solar power generation. The Vingerklip Lodge is also recycling nearly all of the waste, and we buy from local suppliers.
