Information
Hobatere Lodge is located 80 km north of Kamanjab on the western
border of the Etosha National park, and is situated in a concession
area of 32 000 ha which is home to a wide selection of game.
The name Hobatere means, “find me” and once you do, you will be pleasantly
surprised by the warm welcome and personalized service. Excellent
bush cuisine is served on the verandah as well as “braais” at the
boma. The Lodge offers a well stocked bar with a comprehensive wine
list, a small curio shop, as well as a comfortable lounge with a
small library.
Hobatere Lodge has 14 rooms with en-suite facilities. The main building
consists of a reading room, a bar and a restaurant where excellent
bush cuisine is served. Activities at Hobatere include swimming in
a pool, day and night game drives, a hide over looking a waterhole,
a sundeck with waterhole at the swimming pool and guided walks.
For the more adventurous, there is a tree house situated in a dry
riverbed overlooking a waterhole. A rustic campsite is situated approximately
45 minutes’ drive away from the Lodge.

Activities available at the Lodge:
- An Afternoon Game Drive on a part of the 32 000 ha concession
area with a wide variety of game to be seen including Oryx, Giraffe,
Hartmann’s mountain zebra, Elephants etc.
- Night Drives are
offered after Dinner each night giving guests the opportunity
to observe nocturnal animals
- Bird watching and guided walks
are offered on request in the mornings before breakfast
- A hide overlooking a waterhole nearby the Lodge where guests
can sit and observe animals throughout the day
- A sundeck with
a view point over a waterhole which is also floodlit at night
until approximately 22H00.
Accommodation available at the Lodge:
- 3 thatched double rooms next to each other with a double
bed (shower and WC)
- 3 thatched double rooms next to each other
with a double and a single bed (shower and WC)
- 6 thatched
alone standing twin bungalows (shower and WC)
- 2 thatched
single rooms next to each other that can be used either for
single guests or tour guides (shower and WC)
- All with en-suite
bathrooms as well as mosquito net
Tree house Getaway:
- • A rustic tree house situated away from the Lodge offers
accommodation for the more adventurous. It overlooks a waterhole
and consists of two beds as well as a table and two chairs. There
are no shower facilities at the tree house and guests are provided
with a chemical toilet and a hand washbasin. Shower facilities
will be provided for guests at the Lodge.
- Tree house guests
have the choice of either having a dinner pack taken along to
the tree house, or having Dinner at the Lodge. This must be booked
in advance with the lodge.
- Winter time (April – end August)
– leave for the tree house @ 15H00 with a dinner pack or have
dinner at the Lodge at 19H00 and leave after dinner with the
night drive.
- Summer time (September – end March) – leave for
the tree house @ 16H00 with a dinner pack or have dinner at the
@ 20H00 and leave after dinner with the night drive.
- Guests
will be collected from the tree house in the morning, at a time
discussed with them, for breakfast.
- Please note that the Tree
house will be closed from 1 November until 30 April during the
rainy season.

General Information of the Campsite:
- • There is a waterhole where animals can be observed
- There
is no electricity.
- There is one camp attendance to collect
money and issue receipts because the campsite is not situated
at the Lodge, but about 45 minutes drive away from it.
- The
campsite turn off is approximately 100m from the Otjovasando
turn off on the western side of the road and 1,5 km off the main
road.
- Please note that campers do not have to report to the
Lodge.
- Any activities must be booked prior to arrival and are
subject to availability.
Rustic Campsite:
- Self catering, tents and bedding must be provided
- There
are 6 sites – each with one flush toilet, one basin, one braai
area and a tap
- For all 6 sites there are communal hot showers
– 3 for ladies and 3 for men
- Each site can accommodate 8 campers
- For all 6 sites there is a central washing up area
- There
is also an additional campsite for groups that can accommodate
8 tents.
- At the group campsite there are 3 separate flushed
toilets and 3 separate hot showers
